REGULAR HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (may be required to work a flexible schedule) – 37.5 hours per week total

SPECIFICATIONS:
As an employee of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities the job incumbent shall comply with all Board policies at all times, and shall demonstrate respect for, support dignity of, and observe the rights of all individuals served by the agency.
Duties
DUTIES
60%Behavior Support
Provides behavioral consultation to teams under the guidance of the Behavioral Support Coordinator
Works with individuals at home, school, residential, or vocational setting.
Works with support staff to implement behavioral strategies developed in collaboration with Fairfield DD Behavior Support Coordinators.
Assist with training of staff in best-practice methods.
Collects observational data, organizes, and tracks behavioral patterns in accordance with an individual’s service plan (ISP) and communicates those needs to others who support the individual.
Documents behavioral progress and demonstrates to the support staff how to do the same.
Stabilizes individuals in sometimes difficult situations, and coordinates with Behavior Support Coordinator to tweak interventions as needed to accommodate observed needs of the individual.
Fades from the environment when stabilization has occurred, and all staff training and coaching is complete for the individual and staff to be successful.
Conduct all duties, responsibilities, and daily activities in accordance with current best practice and ethical guidelines.
Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support each individual on their case load. Participates in meetings which may include individuals, their families, support staff, and perhaps guardians and other individuals as needed. Effectively communicates the need for behavioral supports and recommends interventions that may prove to be effective.
35%Training
Facilitates Relationship class Training for individuals, families, and supports on interpersonal, relationships, technology, and community related topics.
Provides presentations and information concerning the Board, department and work unit in accordance with Board philosophy and mission. May be asked to provide/participate in activities internal and external to the agency. Participates in and provides in-service training as may be required.
Obtains certification in the use of intervention techniques developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
5%Other
Maintains confidentiality of records, information and program matters.
As necessary, complies with Safety Rules established for the purpose of fulfilling compliance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, Rules or Orders, through the utilization of protective equipment and decontamination techniques.
Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or higher
- Minimum of three years’ experience of working with persons with developmental disabilities, preferably in an educational setting
- Minimum of two years of working with and developing behavior support strategies.
- Within 60 days of hire, successful completion of the required Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, DODD Behavior Support Training, and obtain OCALI Autism certificate
- Knowledge of behavior support definitions, characteristics, legal and ethical standards, behavioral assessments, and evaluation process preferred.
- Direct Service experience involving individuals with complex behavioral needs.

- Eligible for, obtains and maintains required DODD certification.

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in: verbal and written presentation, bookkeeping, organization, time management, interviewing, handling sensitive and confidential information, public relations and personal intercommunications and computer programs.
- Ability to track patterns in accordance with a plan, extrapolate data, evaluate and communicate changes needed.
- May use personal vehicle to transport clients and families.

BEHAVIOR SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
- Implements specific behavior support for people with complex needs. Works with support staff to increase their knowledge and expertise, and effectively fades their support over time.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records, files, correspondence, reports and other documents.
- Reviews Resolution of Complaints, Bill of Rights, Confidentiality and other policies with individuals requesting services.
- Maintains DODD certification, a valid Ohio Driver’s license, current personal insurance and a driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
- Develops, implements and evaluates mandated services and department compliance.
- Complies with professional ethical standards
- Maintains and follows policies on confidentiality.
- Participates in conferences, meetings, workshops, seminars, and on committees.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Shall comply with Safety Rules established for the purpose of fulfilling compliance with Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards, Rules or Orders through the utilization of protective equipment and decontamination techniques.
- Complies with the Individual Bill of Rights.
- Acts in the best interest of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
