What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Coordinator (Jail) position at Fairfield County Ohio?
Under the supervision of the assigned Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for the upkeep and continuous operation of the County jail.
Knowledge of chemicals, MSDS sheets, HVAC, and OSHA; Ability to repair and maintain all equipment; Knowledge of alarm systems, security systems, building automation, and shutoff locations for building water, gas, and electrical supplies. Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment. Ability to climb ladders and work in locations above 20 ft. high. Ability to lift, pull, and carry items up to 50 lbsWORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in County Jail Facility. Works both indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to inclement weather. Risk of injury or exposure to contagious diseases or chemicals is minimal when proper safety procedures are followed.
- Performs all planned maintenance items (PM's) for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment along with other building systems and components. Maintains maintenance records in the FMX system. Maintains supply lists and inventory of necessary items such as filters, light bulbs, valves, etc.
- Performs maintenance items as a plumber, electrician, carpenter, roofer, HVAC Tech, welder, painter, or other required tasks. Assist facility personnel with moving furniture, unloading trucks, hanging pictures or bulletin boards as needed.
- Inspects building and equipment for safety/code compliance, repairs and work completion by contractors or others, and notifies contractors when repairs or warranty work is required.
- Supervises and coordinates labor personnel assigned to assist with building maintenance from the facility.
- Coordinates with janitorial services for building access, storage of cleaning supplies and tools, and satisfactory performance of duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition and subtraction.
- Reading and writing common English vocabulary
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- A valid Ohio Driver's License
