What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Recorder position at Fairfield County Ohio?
Under the direct supervision of the County Recorder, is responsible for the processing of original and duplicate real property deeds and other documentation as necessary under state and local law; performs other duties as required.
Opens and sorts incoming mail.
Processes documents
Accepts payment for recordings & copy fees.
Balances cash drawer and funds received.
Processes copy bills.
Assists customers in document location and copying.
Process Veteran DD214 for ID cards.
Cross references documents on computer & in books.
Scans, indexes, and proofs all documents.
Prepares documents for mail/pick-up.
Completes image extractions & follow-up.
Works on index clean-up and any additional scanning & indexing as needed.
Prepares daily & monthly reports.
Answers phones, assists customers, and makes copies.
May assist in administrative duties as assigned.
A high school diploma or GED.
Two (2) years of office experience including customer service and working with computers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic mathematical, financial, and accounting skills; ability to use an adding machine and reconcile a cash drawer; proficiency in word processing and accounting programs; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks with interruption; ability to work under pressure and deal with the public; ability to organize and work under a time limit; must be able to lift up to 25lbs.

Works in an open office environment where space is shared among employees, and job categories are shared and rotated.
