WHO YOU ARE
You are a Verification Specialist that is enthusiastic about affordable housing, attention to detail and extremely organized. You share your contagious passion for improving the lives of our customers and you exemplify the Company culture and values. The Verification Specialist is responsible for ensuring the activities performed deliver the highest level of operations and customer service. You will work closely with the Compliance team to develop best practices that improve operational and financial performance and cultivate a positive experience for our customers and residents.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Follow, promote, and enforce safety policies, practices, and procedures to ensure safe working conditions and behaviors are maintained.
- Review certification documents, as appropriate.
- Review the Sworn Income and Asset Statement for accuracy, including investigating and verifying sources of income and assets with provided documentation and/or verification letters. Review documents provided to determine eligibility with all applicable programs.
- Document interactions with all related parties (e.g. Community Managers, third-party verifiers, residents, etc.) to the investigation and verification and follow-up, as necessary.
- Create, distribute, track and upload all verification documents, including Sworn Income and Asset Statements, for resident files, including income, assets, deductions, and other required verification forms. Notify Compliance Coordinators upon completion.
- Improve the overall results of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Rural Development (RD) audits by enhancing the compliance and quality assurance methods of the Compliance Department and by ensuring the resident files are uploaded and reviewed according to Company protocols.
- Provide Compliance Specialist I with completed documentation for review and approval.
- Elevate and deliver best-in-class customer service to all internal and external customers.
