This job opening is for a weekend Laundry Attendant and weekday Room Attendant. Descriptions for both roles are included below.
Summary Statement
The Housekeeper/Room Attendant is responsible for monitoring, cleaning and maintaining the
cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned guest rooms in line with the hotel’s standards.
Primary Duties
1. Load and organize housekeeping carts.
2. Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities *and linens to assigned guest room and position
securely. Store carts in the utility closets when finished.
3. Always greet guests with a “Good morning,” “Good evening,” etc.
4. Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces according to OSHA regulations and hotel
requirements.
5. Clean and service guest rooms by category priority.
6. Service assigned guest rooms as follows.
Clean bathroom, including the shower curtain, walls, mirrors, tub, toilet, and floor.
Place standard amenity items in bathroom area and around the room.
Empty trash containers and ashtrays.
Remove all soiled towels and replace with clean par to designated layout.
Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower
walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor.
Replace facial and toilet tissues along with bathroom amenities in correct amount and location.
Remove dirty bed linen. Change linens, in accordance with the sheet changing policy, and
make the bed(s) properly daily.
Clean closets and door tracks on check-out rooms, removing dust and debris.
Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers, extra blanket/pillow and luggage rack.
Dust and polish all furniture.
Realign furniture to floor plan.
Open all drawers/doors in checkout rooms and remove items left by guest.
Check under bed(s), chairs and sofa for debris and remove if present.
Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains; report any damages to the supervisor.
Remove all dust, debris and foreign particles from upholstered furniture including crevices and
under cushions.
Dust pictures, frames and mirrors.
Remove dust and debris on television, VCR, clock radio, remote control and cable box.
Set correct time on clock; Remove any alarm settings made by guests.
Correct TV channel; correct movie rental insert.
Clean all lamps and light switches; ensure line on each lampshade is on the back; check for
proper working order.
Remove dust, spots and smears from windows, ledges and frames.
Remove dust, grease and smears from telephones and reposition properly. Empty liquid from
ice bucket and wipe all surfaces dry. Replace with clean ice bucket.
Properly clean rooms within the prescribed maid minutes.
Remove dust, smudges and spills from mini bar; ensure it is plugged in and securely locked.
Realign drapes to correct position daily. Dust drapes in accordance with task schedule.
Clean refrigerator and microwave.
Inspect condition of amenities in desk, drawers and guest service directory; replace designated
amounts at proper locations within the room.
Remove trash, debris and cobwebs from balcony/patio.
Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from entrance door(s).
Ensure presence of fire safety, rate cards and ‘DND’ sign. Inspect condition and replace as
needed.
Remove dust, dirt and smudges from A/C unit, vents, grids and thermostat.
Remove dust, stains and marks from all baseboards, ledges and corners.
Vacuum rooms as needed, or subject to Housekeeping guidelines.
Spray room with deodorizer.
7. Update status of rooms cleaned on assignment sheet.
8. Return and restock cart at end of shift.
9. Empty vacuum bag and wipe vacuum clean.
10. Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys.
11. Report to the supervisor any damage, hazards, needs for repairs and strangers in assigned areas.
12. Turn over any lost-and-found items from guest rooms to the supervisor. Make up cribs and
rollaway beds. Re-hang and refold guest clothing (if applicable). Stock cleaning supply caddies.
13. Respond to any requests or projects developed by the Housekeeping management team.
14. Perform other housekeeping duties that may be assigned by supervisor or manager.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Good command of the English language.
Experience in some cleaning/housekeeping capacity required.
Previous experience in hospitality industry, preferably housekeeping.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
Ability to: perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy according to
established priorities.
Ability to organize workflow in an orderly manner.
Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
Ability to recognize situations which may involved guests that require immediate supervisory
attention and ability to respond effectively to guest requests.
Ability and willingness to follow directions thoroughly, understand guest-service needs, work
cohesively with co-workers as part of a team, work with minimal supervision, and maintain
confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
Ability to lift up to 18 pounds.
LAUNDRY CAPTAIN
Summary Statement
The laundry captain is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the inventory of linens. S/He treats stains, washes, dries and folds linen.
Primary Duties
1. Inspect dirty laundry for stains/tears before washing.
2. Wash, dry and fold all linen.
3. Identify and treat stains.
4. Fold all clean laundry.
5. Complete linen inventory on a monthly basis.
6. Assure overall cleanliness of the laundry room.
7. Stock shelves and housekeeping carts with clean, folded linen.
8. Notify manager with any discrepancies in linen par/inventory.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills Required
· Working knowledge of the English language.
· Experience in housekeeping/laundry preferred.
· Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
· Ability to operate commercial washers/dryers.
· Ability to work independently.
· High-school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
· Ability to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 20 pounds.
