Make your Mark with Marriott! The Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlottesville Downtown/University Area is looking for a Part-Time Laundry Attendant/Housekeeper to join our Team!
Position Summary:
Inspects, washes, folds, and stores all laundered supplies for Rooms and Food and Beverage. Rotating weekends and holidays are required. Must have reliable transportation.
Essential Functions:
- Wash, dry, and fold linen and towels.
- Operate laundry machinery such as washers, driers, and ironers.
- Sort, rotate, and store dried articles according to type.
- Sort and remove torn and stained articles.
- Sort and count articles to verify quantities on laundry requisitions.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the laundry room, machinery, housekeeping office and storage areas.
- Respond to guests’ special requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Assist Housekeeping leadership during linen inventory.
- Protect company assets and make sure equipment is working correctly.
- Notify manager on any damages, defects, needed maintenance repairs and disturbances.
- Adhere to all laundry procedures and company policies.
- Attend departmental pre-shift and mandatory meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Provides clean linen for units and for Food and Beverage.
- Separates linen according to classification, fabric and color.
- Counts all soiled linen and records the total.
- Operates washers and dryers as per established procedures.
- Loads and unloads washers and dryers.
- Sorts out stained linen for soaking and rewashing.
- Folds, stacks, hangs and stores all laundered linen.
- Separates, counts and records damaged linen and places it in designated area.
- Records discards in discard file.
- Cleans dryer filters as scheduled.
- Sews linen, pillows or other linen when necessary, including uniforms.
- Reports equipment malfunctions promptly to the supervisor.
- Keeps supplies and storage area orderly at all times.
- Cleans all equipment and work area daily.
- Maintains par stock of laundry and cleaning supplies-informs housekeeper of supplies needed.
- Assists with month inventories.
- Reports any hazardous conditions or malfunctions of equipment to Executive or Assistant Housekeeper.
- Turns in lost and found items.
- Provides assistance to associates to contribute to the smooth operation of the department and the property.
