Title: Athletic Director
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelors degree, proven leadership ability, high moral character, and integrity
Preferred: Indiana Administrator’s License, and/or Masters degree in Athletic Administration, experience as a varsity head coach, experience in athletic administration RAA, CAA or CMAA

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer all interscholastic policies and procedures working within the confines of the Rules and By-Laws of the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
- Accountable to follow State Board of Accounts rules and procedures.
- Work closely with building ECA treasurer to be compliant with school building financial procedures.
- Observe and evaluate coaches sufficiently in order to make coaching recommendations to the school principal in terms of job expectancies and job assignments.
- Assist the principal in the hiring, disciplining and/or dismissal of coaches.
- Make recommendations for the improvement of facilities to the superintendent/principal.
- Develop all interscholastic game schedules in accordance with appropriate contracts and approve the publication of all schedules.
- Interpret board policy to the extent necessary to provide guidance for coaches.
- Resolve conflicts that may develop within the athletic department.
- Seek and find ways for supporting, promoting/marketing and financing the athletic program.
- Verify all athletic physicals and necessary forms have been properly completed.
- Plan for all interscholastic events including transportation, lodging and meals, when required.
- Receive equipment quotes, evaluate such requests and approve appropriate orders.
- Arrange for proper supervision of home athletic contests by administrative personnel or persons assigned to assist in such duties.
- Work with the assistant athletic director to ensure proper compliance with local, state and national regulations and to coordinate the athletic program for grades 7-12.
- Act as tournament manager for all conference and tournament playoff activities that are assigned to the school district.
- Maintain records for each athlete and sport concerning wins and losses, outstanding records, letterpersons, athletic suspensions / expulsions, and scholastic eligibility.
- Maintain responsibility for home game management and for the safekeeping and deposit of gate receipts.
- Provide for the cleaning, repairing and storing of all athletic equipment.
- Establish procedures for the control and repair of athletic equipment.
- Manage and control the use of athletic facilities.
- Represent the school in all athletic business at conference and state meetings.
- Attend and serve as school liaison at all athletic booster club meetings.
- Act as liaison between the coaches and the athletic booster club.
- Assist the administration in the preparation and the distribution of complimentary passes for the school district.
- Evaluate the athletic program on a continual basis in order to find ways of improving interscholastic athletics.
- Monitor coaches’ training and maintain a record of certification as needed for concussion awareness, first aid, CPR, defibrillators and any additional areas of training deemed necessary.
- Create/Manage the FJSHS Athletic website and social media accounts.
- Assist the superintendent and/or his designee with decisions regarding practices, games or other athletic related events in the case of an emergency and/or inclement weather.
- Serve as the school corporation’s liaison with community youth athletic groups.
- Perform such other duties as the principal and/or superintendent of schools may direct.

- As determined by the Fairfield Board of School Trustees
Contracted days: 215 days
