STATUS: Full Time; Nonexempt
HOURS: Monday-Friday 830a-5p (40 Hours per Week)
SALARY RANGE: $17.50 - $22

NATURE OF WORK:
Horizon Healthcare’s patient access specialist meets daily needs of the clinic and coordinates with the nursing staff, physician, Chief Operating Officer, and Director to reach departmental goals, follow patient safety procedures, and compliance with hospital and governmental policies and procedures.
Responsible for welcoming patients, collecting, entering and maintaining accurate patient demographics, consents, and insurance records in two Electronic Health Records. Schedules appointments, verifies insurance information, form completion and patient signatures are obtained. Answers multi-line phone system, collects patient payments, scans and files PHI to patient account or chart per procedure. Compiles data needed for FMH billing department. Assists clinical staff to sustain an efficient practice. Also, coordinates with key hospital departments or outside entities to handle needs of the behavioral health clinic and its patients including referrals, obtaining outside records or accepting referrals. Timely and accurate work produced is vital.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
High-School diploma with healthcare related classes beneficial.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with electronic medical record, handling of protected health information, registration and insurance verification in a medical office or hospital setting preferred. Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word experience preferred. Knowledge of general office business equipment and Internet skills.
SKILLS:
Excellent keyboarding, customer service, organization and communication skills needed. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations through prioritization and multi-tasking as well as providing excellent customer service is important. Leadership and problem solving to support the daily needs of the clinic. Microsoft proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel.
