Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Warehouse Worker. In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks that are essential to the efficient operation of our food pantry. You will play a key role in food distribution by accepting and handling food donations, ensuring that all food is stored safely and packed efficiently to serve Thomasville families needing food assistance.
Responsibilities
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, fork lifts and box trucks to store and move food safely and efficiently.
- A reliable vehicle will be needed for food pickup. You must be a licensed driver with a clean driving record.
- The major duties of this position follow:
- Pack nutritious food boxes.
- Check food for freshness and expiration dates.
- Keep the food pantry shelves stocked, clean and well organized.
- Weigh and organize food donations recording donor name and address.
- Record cooler and freezer temperatures daily.
- Take trash out and sweep warehouse daily.
- Pack donated pizzas daily.
- Clean food carts daily.
- Mop the warehouse and sweep out the coolers and freezers weekly.
- Office cleaning is required.
- Assist volunteers unload food from their vehicles.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure food safety and efficiency within the warehouse.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals while adhering to safety protocols.
- Flexibility and additional hours will be required for food pickup, fundraisers, and seasonal programs.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift heavy packages (up to 60 pounds) and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with food handling practices is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment operation is needed.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
