RN Charge Nurse (Health Center)

We are actively seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to fill our open RN Charge Nurse (Health Center) position. This position plays a key role within our dynamic nursing team.

Reports to: Director of Nursing

Supervises: RNs, LPNs, CNAs and other non-licensed staff

Position Salary Scale: $73,050 to $83,240 (depending on experience)

Status: Salaried (exempt)

Schedule: Salaried

Important Schedule Note: This position requires participation in our nursing "on-call" rotation.

Primary Function:

Oversees the performance of comprehensive resident nursing care and the adherence to care plans by nursing staff according to all applicable federal and state regulations and Fairhaven policies.

Essential Functions:

• Directs, leads, instructs, oversees and manages assigned nursing staff in Fairhaven's Health Center
• Establishes and oversees implementation of care plans according to relevant license.
• Responsible for documents involving Minimum Data Sets and Psychotropic Drug reviews.
• Responsible for resident assessments and working with physicians treating residents.
• Oversees correct processing of orders.
• Performs evaluation of staff and reports to DON for review and discipline purposes.
• Admits, transfers and discharges residents as needed.
• Participates in Survey Inspections.
• Participates in on-call rotation

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

• Physical condition allowing for normal RN/LPN duties including but not limited to; lifting (up to 50lbs.), bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity, ability to read labels, regulations, technical procedures, professional journals, nursing orders and care plans.

• Ability to manage stress and maintain a high energy level.
• Computer knowledge necessary to perform work duties.
• Ability to supervise with energy, courtesy, authority, respect and fairness.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly manner to residents and coworkers in English.
• Ability to perform a variety of activities and to adapt to a quickly changing environment as it relates to caring for residents and Fairhaven property.
• Ability to show warmth, love and compassion and to make residents feel comfortable.
• Comfort in working in a Christian Retirement Center environment.
• Adherence to attendance policy, understanding residents’ need for 24/7 care.
• Ability to use tactful, appropriate, communications, in sensitive and emotional situations.
• Participation in on-call rotation.
• Adherence to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policy documents.

Experience & Education/Skills Required :

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current RN license in the state of Illinois
• Current CPR registration
• Knowledge of the geriatric population in life community settings
• Working knowledge of policy and procedure book
• Knowledge of Administrative code
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) or willingness/ability to learn
• Previous experience managing Nursing staff helpful
