The Rigging Production Manager oversees all aspects of the rigging department within Fairlead’s Structures Division. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing rigging operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and adherence to project schedules. The manager will lead and develop training for a team of riggers, coordinate with other production departments, and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs for rigging personnel to ensure skill development, safety awareness, and compliance with industry standards.
- Plan, direct, and manage all rigging operations, including lifting, moving, and securing heavy equipment and ship components.
- Develop and implement work schedules to meet project timelines and budget requirements.
- Ensure all rigging activities comply with OSHA, NAVSEA, and other applicable safety regulations.
- Supervise, train, and mentor rigging personnel, ensuring a high level of performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to optimize rigging processes.
- Oversee inspection, maintenance, and certification of rigging equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in rigging operations, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Monitor and manage labor costs, materials, and equipment usage to maintain budget control.
- Prepare and submit reports on rigging activities, workforce performance, and equipment status.
- Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders regarding rigging requirements and progress.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and quality.
Qualifications:
- 7 years of rigging experience in the shipbuilding or heavy industrial sector, with at least 3 years in a managerial role
- Strong knowledge of rigging equipment, procedures, and safety standards.
- Certified Rigger credentials from NCCCO or equivalent organization (preferred).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and load charts.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interface effectively with various departments.
- Experience in managing budgets, scheduling, and workforce planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and production management software.
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a shipyard environment with exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and outdoor elements.
- Requires physical activity, including walking, standing, climbing, and lifting moderate loads.
Work Environment:
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment, with local travel between facilities and project locations. Occasional travel outside of the local area may be required in the development of technical requirements, vendors, suppliers, and/or other team members.
