The Accounting Clerk supports the financial management and operations of the Credit Union through processing and maintenance of accounting transactions, records and reports. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Posts journal entries, processes payments, verifies information, and reconciles accounts.
- Maintains files and records according to retention schedules.
- Performs supporting administrative tasks within accounting department including but not limited to: processing mail, archiving accounting records, researching transactions, processing compliance checks and assisting others within the department as needed.
- Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be available to work a schedule based on operating hours.
- One year to three years of similar or related experience.
- Some college or technical school course work, preferably in Accounting.
- Well-developed communication and member service skill, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy necessary to communicate with members and co-workers.
- Detail oriented, high degree of accuracy in order to deal with numbers and names.
- The ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding member transactions; weighing member satisfaction issue with the Credit Union's exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.
- Competence with computers and computer keyboard by touch, knowledge of general office machines, 10-key calculator and spreadsheet software.
- Basic mathematical skills required; adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Work is typically sedentary with prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, but may require standing and walking up to 10 percent of the time.
- Lifting up to 15 pounds is occasionally required.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
