Position Overview
The Director of Residence Life & Housing provides strategic leadership to cultivate vibrant, inclusive, and well-maintained residential communities that enhance student engagement, success, and retention. This pivotal role involves overseeing residential programming, housing operations, facilities management, crisis response, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead community-building initiatives to foster positive and inclusive living environments.
- Supervise and develop Resident Directors, Resident Assistants, and housing operations staff.
- Collaborate with campus partners to integrate leadership, wellness, and social learning opportunities into the residential experience.
- Manage housing assignments, occupancy, and administrative functions in coordination with the Housing Operations Manager.
- Oversee residential facilities planning and maintenance, ensuring timely upkeep and capital improvements.
- Participate in crisis response and provide support for after-hours emergencies.
- Handle higher-level residential conduct cases and ensure compliance with university policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Three to five years of progressive experience in Residence Life, Housing, or Student Affairs.
- Demonstrated expertise in student leadership development, housing operations, and community engagement.
- Strong crisis management skills and the ability to support students effectively.
