The Basic Life Support instructor conducts segments of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Initial and Renewal courses for residents, physicians, employees, and participants from outside the organization.
This is a casual position.
Responsibilities Job Description
This position will teach system AHA basic life support classes for Fairview employees across the Fairview Health System, including Legacy HealthEast locations, and for outside participants that are required to maintain BLS compliance as published by the American Heart Association (AHA).
· Maintains AHA certification as Basic Life Instructor.
· Successfully demonstrates BLS provider skills according to the standards of the American Heart Association including a score of 90% or higher on the written healthcare provider examination.
· Uses new course content and training center, local ECC and national ECC information in coursework as appropriate.
· Teaches BLS Classes according to AHA standards.
· Demonstrate didactic and practical teaching according to AHA BLS protocol.
· Manages and completes classes in a timely manner.
· Submits all class documents and time sheets to Organizational Learning within one week of assigned classes.
· Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Qualifications
Required
Experience
- Current or previous healthcare provider experience
License/Certification/Registration
- Current or working towards AHA BLS instructor certification
Preferred
Experience
- 2 years of healthcare and instructional experience
