The Director of Technology Asset Management is responsible for overseeing the hands-on management of all hardware, software, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) assets across Fairview locations. This role emphasizes direct oversight and operational execution to ensure asset optimization, compliance with financial and regulatory standards, and support of organizational objectives. The successful candidate will drive initiatives to reduce costs, enhance user efficiency, and speed up technology deployment. Responsibilities Job Description
Accountable for Asset Management: Lead the hands-on management and oversight of the technology asset lifecycle at all Fairview locations, including procurement, maintenance, and disposal of technology assets. Drive the success criteria of various solutions, working with Vendor Management, Supply Chain, and other connected teams to ensure the adoption of uniform processes and tools. Accelerate adoption in areas such as Software intake rationalization, and optimization.
Policy and Compliance Execution: Develop and enforce policies that ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements, utilizing hands-on strategies for effective asset management.
Financial Oversight: Create and execute financial plans aimed at reducing costs associated with technology assets, enhancing service delivery, and improving user satisfaction. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing baselines, proactive insights through technology refresh cycles, providing predictive analytics, and managing indirect costs such as Digital Experience (DEX), efficiency, and productivity.
Technology Deployment Execution: Streamline the deployment process to ensure that technology assets are efficiently rolled out, enhancing operational efficiency and meeting organizational needs. Evaluate and advise on modern asset deployment approaches and plans.
Asset Tracking and CMDB Management: Establish processes for all feeds into the CMDB and ensure key considerations for the quality of the data. Oversee the CMDB to ensure accurate and timely data capture of all asset information, facilitating effective asset management and decision-making processes. Manage Hardware and Software Asset Management technology selection, implementation, and maintenance.
Field Services & Project Support: This division ensures comprehensive onsite service and support across all Fairview hospitals, campuses, and clinics. The team addresses immediate hands-on needs, including break-fix solutions, service requests, and other activities essential for smooth operations. Additionally, the project support team manages add/move/change requests, effectively representing multiple IT teams to coordinate and fulfill the dynamic needs of our healthcare facilities.
Performance Metrics and Reporting: Set up and monitor key performance indicators to effectively track asset utilization, cost-efficiency, and overall asset management performance. Leverage and create dashboards for each discipline in a consistent format.
Vendor and Contract Management: Evaluate, approve, and review contracts with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and hands-on management needs.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead a team dedicated to asset management, fostering their development, and setting clear objectives to align with hands-on asset management goals. Manage recruitment, goal setting, team development, and all other aspects of employee management. This role will also have direct or indirect oversight of non-employee teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with department heads and senior management to ensure that asset management plans support broader business objectives, providing hands-on updates and recommendations. Act as the change agent for the Enterprise Asset Management discipline.
Risk Management and Resolution: Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with technology assets, addressing performance issues through direct involvement and swift resolution.
Qualifications
Required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training
Experience
- 12 years’ experience within Information Technology
- 5 years of leadership experience with increasing levels of accountability
- Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
- Proven experience delivering technology projects and services, with excellent customer quality, cost and outcome measures
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work with a range of technical staff, architect and operational and business partners to develop joint solutions
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to facilitate problem solving among groups with varying needs and priorities
- Exceptional understanding of ITIL frameworks and lean principles
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
