What are the responsibilities and job description for the Imaging Tech Assistant position at Fairview Health Services?
M Health Fairview is looking for an Imaging Technologist Assistant primarily for the Diagnostic X-Ray department at M Health Fairview at Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. The Imaging Tech Assistant provides efficiency support for the Imaging Departments and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. This position will support the technologist with direct patient care workflow.
The work schedule for this position is every weekend, Saturday & Sunday, 9:00AM-3:00PM. This is a 0.3 FTE with opportunity to pick up extra shifts during the week. Including shifts in our varying modalities of CT and MRI.
Responsibilities Job Description
Patient care
- Assists the technologist in the preparation of patient for radiology procedures as needed
- Insures patient safety and emergency preparedness
- Documents and practices accurate identification of patient information
- Assists Technologist in the Imaging modalities area as needed with scheduling, checking in and patient care needs
- Pre-Schedules patients in the Imaging modalities area
- Provides support in confirmation of patient demographics and insurance verification processes
Imaging archival duties
- Imports outside imaging to electronic medical record and burns CD’s for Providers and patients as needed
- Retrieves/films from film library
- Scans hard-copy paper documents to the patient’s medical record as needed
- Performs outbound calls from the Imaging work queue, to assist in scheduling pending exams
Rooms and supplies
- Assists in the cleaning, maintenance, stocking and preparation of rooms Insures that supplies are ordered and maintained
- Adheres to radiology polices and infection control standards
Radiology Information System
- Navigates PACS, EMR and Radiant with ease
- Schedules/Checks in/arrives patients for their imaging appointments
- Sends and retrieves information throughout the hospital and assists with daily application and system needs as needed
Acts as a patient care representative
- Greets and prepares patients for imaging exams and aids patients with completing pre-contrast CT and pre-MRI Safety questionnaires
- Assists in positioning patients for Radiological Examinations, excluding holding during imaging acquisition
- Transports imaging patients occasionally as needed for efficiency purposes
- Prepares contrast for examinations
Qualifications
Required:
- Meet MRI Safety Screen requirements
- Radiology Technology student or Imaging experience in specific modality
- Nursing Assistant or any previous patient care/medical care role
- Knowledge of medical terminology
