The Manager of Medical Staff Practitioner Evaluation oversees the practitioner evaluation functions, provides expert consultation. The manager will supervise, train and evaluate the medical staff practitioner evaluation specialists while actively contributing to and supporting the medical staff practitioner evaluation activities through identifying and preparing cases for practitioner evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure OPPE and FPPE quality metrics are meaningful and appropriate for all service specialties, developing process improvement initiatives
Responsibilities Job Description
Ensures overall compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and other requirements (such as Bylaws, The Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation) for staff physicians
Adheres to confidentiality needs and manages sensitive information with a high degree of discretion
Develops, implements, and communicates policies and/or procedures as needed, in partnership with the System Director Medical Staff Services
Coordinates review activities with medical staff leaders, written and oral communication with reviewers, management of highly sensitive information
Provides direction for the development of medical staff clinical indicators with which to monitor and evaluate the quality of care and services rendered by practitioners.
Participate in regulatory and accreditation surveys, visits, and improvement action plans
Manages workload and supervises direct reports
- Conducts annual performance reviews with direct reports
- Provides direct reports ongoing feedback and coaching throughout the year
Staff Development
- Participates in the interviewing/hiring process
- Coordinates and directs new employee orientation
- Facilitates goal development and ongoing review of achieving goals
Builds a culture that engages employees
- Conducts employee rounding
- Recognizes employees for their contributions
Assists with other projects and duties as assigned by the System Director of Medical Staff Services
Qualifications
Required
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree
Experience
- 3-5 years of medical staff peer review or related experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience
Preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Health Information Management
Experience
- 5-10 years of medical staff peer review experience
License/Certification/Registration
- RN or RHIA
