Responsibilities Job Description
Fairview is looking for a Full Time Medical Laboratory Technician for the Northeast Clinic Laboratories (1.0 FTE or 80 hours/2 week pay period). Primary site is M Health Fairview Clinic - Vadnais Heights with a weekend shift at an Urgent Care site, as well as the possibility of cross training at additional clinic sites including M Health Fairview Clinic - Hugo, M Health Fairview Clinic - Blaine, and M Health Fairview Clinic - Stillwater. Shifts are 8 hours in length and will primarily be the opening shift: 6:30am to 3:00pm. Shift may vary based on business needs, with the latest ending time of 6:00pm. Weekend hours will be one day (Saturday or Sunday) scheduled every 5-6 weeks at an Urgent Care location.
The MLT plays an important role in providing quality, proficient and professional laboratory services to diverse populations within an ambulatory healthcare environment. The Medical Laboratory Technician performs waived, moderate, or high complexity testing, correlates data-based knowledge of technical and instrumental conditions affecting testing results and performs quality control procedures within established parameters. This position also may be involved in laboratory specimen collection, safe and secure specimen handling, ensuring efficient workflow and may schedule tests and provides results as appropriate. The MLT works independently under general supervision.
Job Expectations: follow established guidelines to obtain specimens, perform testing and report results, consistently implement and adhere to the laboratory customer service standards. The standards include promoting teamwork, successful communication, and conflict resolution, supports and adheres to laboratory SOPs, quality assurance, performance improvement and compliance programs recognizing trends and identifying when additional reporting, communication or other action is appropriate. Demonstrates competency and compliance with all regulatory agency policies.

Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. Qualified to work in a highly complex laboratory as mandated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA)
- Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory certification such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT. If not certified at time of hire, must acquire certification within 12 months.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as a MLT in an ambulatory or acute healthcare environment

- Good phlebotomy skills.
