M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital, located in Burnsville, is looking for a dynamic Nurse Manager to guide our Observation Unit team! Are you ready to join this team?
The Nurse Manager leads nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with and accountable to the Nursing Director, this includes nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities.
The Observation unit is protocol driven, serving medical and post-procedural/post-surgical patients including but not limited to conditions such as chest pain, syncope, renal colic, toxicology exposure, vertigo, DVT, stroke, gastroenteritis, hysterectomy, TURP, mastectomy and heart catheterizations.
This 28 bed unit is fast-paced with an average length of patient stay around 28 hours, accommodating Outpatient Observation, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical patients and is equipped with remote telemetry to closely monitor cardiac patients. The unit is continuously focused on evaluating processes to improve quality of care, decrease length of stay by facilitating quick discharges and efficient patient flow.
This exempt, nurse manager position is 80 hours in two weeks or 1.0 FTE, 8 hour, day shifts, and will work weekends as needed. Responsibilities Job Description
Job Expectations:
- Leads day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization.
- Plans, manages, coordinates and evaluates patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
- Handles equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget.
- Accountable for capacity management to promote patient flow.
- Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the quality improvement initiatives.
In addition, the Obs NM:
- Is responsible for human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Advocates for patient, family and staff needs.
- Drives improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience.
- In partnership the Nursing Practice and Education team assure that evidence based/standard process clinical care is being delivered.
- Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency.
- Works with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives.
- Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.
- Partners with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes.
Qualifications
Required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. If Bachelor’s degree is not in nursing, a Master’s degree is nursing will be required.
Experience
- Four Years nursing experience, at least two of which is in a formal or informal (charge, supervisor, etc.) leadership role.
License/Certification/Registration
- Licensed Registered Nurse. Ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license at time of hire.
- BLS certification
Preferred
