What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Station Technician - Procedural Endoscopy position at Fairview Health Services?
We are looking for a Nursing Station Technician to join our Procedural Endoscopy team at the University of Minnesota East Bank.
The Nursing Station Technician in Procedural Endoscopy is responsible for preparing and stocking equipment, cleaning scopes, and for turning over procedure rooms for endoscopy procedures.
In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:
- Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
- Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
- Ordering and stocking of supplies
This position works Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts, at a .8 FTE (64 hours/2 weeks).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
And one of the following:
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
Or
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
Or
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
Or
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience
