The Nutrition Services Associate assists in providing and maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction, through diet explanations, and correction and adjustment of patient menus. Complete calorie counts, diet profile updates and other diet office responsibilities as needed. Serves as a liaison between diet office staff, kitchen supervisors and clinical dietitians to enhance communication and improve patient satisfaction. Nutrition Services staff directly influences the patient, guest, and staff experience by preparing and serving the food that sustains everyone through their healing or their work. There is phenomenal opportunity to engage directly with patients and/or staff, and an opportunity to work together on a team of engaged employees.

Location: UMMC East Bank, located in Minneapolis
Hours: 72 hours per two week pay period

Week 1:

Mon: 6:00am - 2:30pm

Tue: 6:00am - 2:30pm 

Wed: 6:00am - 2:30pm 

Sat: 6:30am - 3:00pm

Sun: 6:30am - 3:00pm

Week 2:

Mon: 6:00am - 2:30pm 

Wed: 6:00am - 2:30pm 

Thu: 6:00am - 2:30pm 

Fri: 6:00am - 2:30pm

Job Expectations:

• Accurately fulfills enteral nutrition and oral nutrition supplement orders and delivers to units.
• Assists patients requiring additional support to order food and beverage items in alignment with the diet order
• Adjusts menu requests to align with therapeutic diet guidelines and food allergies using the nutrition software
• Supports patient and family members by capturing food preferences, answering questions about therapeutic diets, addressing service concerns and/or triaging to appropriate team members or managers as needed
• Captures data about calories and macronutrients consumed by patient if requested by clinical team
• Demonstrates proficiency in knowledge of menu items, nutrition formulas and supplements, therapeutic diets, and use of the nutrition software
• Communicates clinical concerns to the dietitians or other clinical team members
• Unloads pallets of nutrition formulas and stocks nutrition formulary room supplies as needed
• Identifies areas for process improvement to improve efficiency and accuracy of nutrition services and participates in process improvement as requested
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

• One year of customer service experience
• One year office equipment/computer expereince. 
• High school dipoma/ G.E.D 

Preferred Experience:

• One year of health-related patient services experience

Preferred Education:

• Enrolled in or completed health-related 2-year or 4-year degree program
• License/Certification/Registration
  • Registered Dietetic Technician
