We at Fairview Health Services is looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location at our 7ITC (Intensive Treatment Center) is a 13 bed unit for acutely ill patients who need a smaller, quieter environment. The Child and Adolescent unit serves patients between the ages of 4-18. All of the rooms are single rooms. We offer programming similar to 7A and provide shorter groups to help manage the shorter attention spans. We provide care to many children with autism and ASD. This can be a driven unit with patients who are impulsive and aggressive. We have staff who are passionate about providing structure and their strength is redirecting negative behaviors. Often staff will be seen playing soccer in the hall with the patients.
This role is approved for 56 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, working 8 hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities Job Description
The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.
Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:
- Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
- Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
- Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
- Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:
- Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
- Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
- Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:
- Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
- Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.
- Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- BLS
Preferred
- Bachelor’s in Human Services Field
- Experience working with behavioral patients
