What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Medical Surgical Orthopedic & Spine position at Fairview Health Services?
Fairview Ridges Hospital is a 150-bed facility located in Burnsville, MN. The Ortho Spine Medical Surgical unit is looking for an RN to support their fast paced 26-bed unit. The unit is continuously focused on evaluating processes to improve quality and safety of care, decrease length of stay by facilitating discharges and efficient patient flow to serve patients in our community.
This unit collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to care for adult ortho, spine, general surgery, and post-surgical recovery patients. You may care for conditions such as sepsis, bowel conditions, liver, and kidney disorders. Our unit is equipped with remote telemetry to care for a variety of cardiac disorders.
About this position:
- 48 hours per two weeks
- 8 hour shifts on the night (7pm-7:30am) shift and works every third weekend

Responsibilities Job Description
The registered nurse is responsible for providing patient and family centered nursing care following established standards, professional practice guidelines and MN Nurse Practice act. The nurse will have an essential role in coordinating care with physicians, care coordinators, patients, and families and delegates responsibilities as appropriate. The RN on this unit will train to post op surgical and other complex medical patients. Epic is used for computerized medical records charting.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- MN RN license in good standing
- BLS for health care providers
Preferred qualifications:
- BSN
