Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, we deliver a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac and oncology (cancer care) services and blood and marrow and organ transplantation.

The Pediatric CVICU has 12 beds and works closely with Pediatric ICU on same floor. Our pediatric patients range from newborns to young adults. The unit has medical and surgical patients requiring cardiovascular intensive care, including cardiology, heart failure, ECMO, rhythm disturbances, VADs and heart transplantation. Our care team includes RNs and Nursing Station Technicians, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2.
This position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the day shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend.
Manages medication and infusion therapies.
Provides care to critically ill, trauma and transplant (solid organ and bone marrow transplant) patients and those who require observation and monitoring.
Safely employes the following monitoring devices:
- Arterial lines, cardiac monitoring, Invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
Safely administers the following medications and infusions guided by knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, normal dosages and method of delivery.
- Paralytics, Vasoactive, Vasodilators, Thrombolytics, Antiarrthymics, Nipride, Cytotoxic agents, Heparin, Immunosuppressants, Fluid and electrolyte replacement, Insulin, Immunoglobulins, Blood products (FFP, Platelets, Cryo. Albumin)
Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
Operates equipment according to hospital and manufacturer's guidelines:
- Mechanical Ventilators, Defibrillator, Infant warmers, Cardiac monitors, Internal and External pacemakers, CRRT
Required:
- One year of pediatric critical care experience
- MN RN licensure
- BLS
Preferred:
- BSN
- Certification in related specialty is highly desired
