Permanent Position 2025-2026 School Year

LOCATION: Fairview High School
TITLE: English Teacher/Theater Teacher/Performing Arts Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pennsylvania Certification - Secondary English or
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate with a Theatre endorsement (1190)
- High School experience preferred
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
SALARY: Per the F.E.A. Contract
EVALUATION: Annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation and the F.E.A. Contract.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and current instructional strategies and approaches to subject/grade area.
- Demonstrate a variety of teaching methods and techniques that motivate students to perform at their optimum ability.
- Utilize strategies that differentiate instruction to address the ability level of all students.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of instructional techniques appropriate for students with cognitive and behavioral needs.
- Utilize strategies and activities which encourage the development of critical and analytical thought processes by students.
- Teach subject matter as prescribed in the board-approved curriculum.
- Cooperate with staff and administration to promote and maintain a sound learning environment.
- Act as a professional role model for students and staff.
- Participate in professional organizations and professional growth activities such as appropriate seminars, courses, workshops, and staff development activities.
- Communicate with parents and appropriate professional staff to discuss student needs and
- Cooperate with the department chair, team leader, and other staff members to promote the curriculum and professional growth of the department.
- Demonstrate use of technology as related to specific subject/grade areas.
- Provide thorough and punctual reports, data, forms, etc., as requested by the administration.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as delineated in the district’s board manual, staff handbook, and administrative requests.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of classroom management techniques.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of instructional techniques appropriate for students with cognitive and behavioral needs.
- Design and implement engaging theater arts curriculum, covering acting, directing, technical theater, and theater history while aligning with state and national arts education standards.
- Work collaboratively with school staff, administration, and the community to promote performing arts, secure resources, and maintain a positive, inclusive environment for student creativity and expression.
