Fairview Range is hiring a Release of Information Specialist for our Health Information team in Hibbing, MN.
As a Release of Information Specialist, you will be responsible for providing phone and front desk support, as well as processing all Release of Information (ROI), specifically medical record requests. ROI requests must be processed in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy while providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. This representative must safeguard and protect the patient's rights to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are compliant with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. This position will be responsible for scanning of documents and paper charts that are received by the HIM department as instructed by your lead.
Schedule: This position will work 80 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the day shift. Weekends: None

As a Release of Information Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Performing release of information functions in the Health Information Department.
- Responding to written ROI requests in accordance with Fairview policy, federal state and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to understand and become knowledgeable of Release of Information standards, policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations and to complete work in compliance of these and other standards.
- Prepping, Scanning, Indexing and Quality Control.
- Maintaining productivity standards for images/hour while performing the Review process.
- Understanding and assigning correct document types for each form.
- Determining the correct information ie: patient name, medical record number, account number, document type and document description.
- Performing additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or vocational school graduate
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- RHIT Certification
- One year of previous experience in Medical Record/Health Information Department
