JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT

JOB TITLE: Student Success Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License General

Minimum of 5 years of experience in education.

Experience in teacher leadership, mentoring, or counseling (preferred).

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

WORK YEAR: 10-month, Full Time

SALARY: Salary is regionally competitive

POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Success Coordinator serves as a member of the K-8 faculty and assists with the daily operation of the school, specifically in the areas of attendance, behavioral, and disciplinary prevention and intervention services with an emphasis on restorative practices and social-emotional learning (SEL).

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Essential Functions:

Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to student behavior and attendance.

Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and participates in disciplinary hearings when applicable (the building principal will become involved in major cases).

Address bus behavior referrals and maintain appropriate documentation.

Assist teachers with behavior management plans and strategies.

Work with staff in providing guidance and motivation for student success and in collaboratively developing behavior/academic plans for students who struggle.

Coordinate and facilitate restorative practices approach to discipline.

Serve as an instructional resource for intervention and equity services to support the development and growth of equitable systems and practices within the school.

Communicate with students, parents, and staff in a timely manner regarding student behavior and attendance.

Analyze, report, and interpret student behavior data with the administrative team to make recommendations for student/school improvement.

Communicate effectively with administration, teachers, students, and parents.

Additional Job Functions:

Maintain a commitment to learning about best practices in student management and attendance.

Attend special meetings to engage in conversations involving student behavior and attendance.

Participate in professional growth to improve skills related to the job assignment.

Perform supervision of students during unstructured times such as before and after school, during passing periods, and during lunch and recess.

Make recommendations concerning the revision and updating of the student code of conduct, rules, regulations, and handbooks.

Perform such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct, including entry of behavior events in the student information system, and producing and sending documentation related to behavior events to families as required by policy or statute.

Serve as an emergency substitute teacher when the need arises.

Perform other related duties as directed by the Principal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with leadership and working with the MTSS model.

Knowledge of restorative practices and social-emotional learning (SEL).

Strong technology integration skills.

Experience with student information systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
