The Material Handler will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for assisting with the set up and installation of equipment as well as production of goods in a timely and efficient manner. The Material Handler will work with machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Moves materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas.
- Identifies and labels materials and records their locations in the warehouse/on shelves to maintain inventory.
- Prepares finished products for shipment by identifying their location, then pulling, packing, and loading.
- Operates company vehicles and trucks to make local and interstate deliveries; some deliveries may require overnight stay.
- Operates forklifts and other equipment to move freight.
- Complies with all production/warehouse safety rules and guidelines.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment by following company policies and procedures.
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, safe work and trust among team.
- May be assigned to operate company vehicle on interstate deliveries; may require overnight stay.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Class E driver's license with medical card.
- Interstate delivery driving experience.
- Certification to operate forklift truck preferred.
- Previous experience working in a production or warehouse setting preferred.
- Experience in operating material handling equipment preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Exhibits professionalism to peers and superiors.
- Ability to work well under limited supervision.
- Ability to operate computers and relevant warehouse management computer software.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and documented procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and team needs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers verbally or written.
- Standing for extended periods during the work shift.
- Walking, bending, reaching, and lifting 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Exposure to fumes, odors, and/or airborne particles, with appropriate safety measures.
- Exposure to varying noise levels, including moderate to high, with appropriate hearing protection.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.96 per hour
