Job Description:
We are looking for a compassionate and caring Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual support to patients, families, and staff in a hospice setting. This part-time, hourly position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of individuals facing end-of-life challenges. The Hospice Chaplain will work alongside our interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic care is delivered to our patients. Active participation in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide spiritual counseling and support to hospice patients and their families compassionately and respectfully.
- Lead prayer and spiritual services as requested by patients or their families.
- Assist in memorial services and bereavement support.
- Offer guidance on end-of-life issues, helping patients and families navigate complex spiritual and emotional questions.
- Actively participate in weekly or bi-weekly IDT meetings, collaborating with the hospice care team to create individualized care plans.
- Respond to calls for spiritual support as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of spiritual care services provided.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and understanding environment for patients and their families.
Qualifications:
- Ordained clergy or equivalent spiritual leader credentials.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in chaplaincy or spiritual care, preferably in a hospice or healthcare setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to spiritual care.
- Must be available for on-call and flexible hours as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
