POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
The Coffee Shop Manager will oversee the weekend operations which includes recruiting and managing volunteers, maintaining financial and inventory oversight, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Additionally, the manager develops schedules, maintains equipment, and aligns coffee shop operations with the church’s vision and values, ensuring a welcoming, ministry-focused environment with excellent customer service. This role will work closely with the Coffee Shop Assistant and Executive Administrator of Dyer.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage day-to-day operations of the coffee shop, including opening and closing procedures
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteer staff to ensure smooth operation during services and events
- Create a friendly and inviting environment for guests by maintaining exceptional customer service standards and handling any customer concerns with empathy and professionalism
- Maintain inventory of supplies and coordinate with vendors for timely restocking
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations regarding food handling and cleanliness
- Verify all machines are clean and in proper working order while maintaining good communication with equipment vendors
- Oversee financial transactions, utilizing a POS system, handling cash, maintaining accurate records
- Develop and introduce new menu items and seasonal specials that appeal to our customer base while maintaining a focus on cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with church leadership to align coffee shop activities with broader church initiatives and events
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in food service management, preferably in a coffee shop or similar environment
- Understanding of health and safety regulations related to food service
- Exhibits a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, and a willingness to learn
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Committed to collaborative teamwork and embodying a servant leadership mindset
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the coffee shop ministry
- Proficient in computer skills, specifically in P.O.S. systems and G-Suite
Education, Licenses, Registrations, Certificates
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality management, or a related field is preferred, but not required
- Barista certification, training, or extensive coffee preparation experience is preferred, but not required
- Experience in menu development and product sourcing a plus
- ServSafe certification is required, provided upon hire
Physical Demands
Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods, with the ability to use hands for fine manipulation. Ability to communicate clearly through speaking and listening. Must be capable of lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions
