What are the responsibilities and job description for the K-5 Instructional Aide position at FAITH Church?
K–5 Instructional Aides are caring, dependable team players who support student learning by working closely with classroom teachers. They assist with instruction, classroom management, and student support, while also supervising students both indoors and outdoors.
Qualifications:
- First and foremost, a K-5 Instructional Aide must have a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.
- A love for children and desire to help them learn and thrive in school.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university is preferred, but not required
- Prior experience working with children is preferred.
- Above average organizational skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates resourcefulness and expertise in the following areas: relationships, team building, teacher leadership, communication, conflict resolution, creativity, problem solving, time management, and making wise decisions.
- Performs clerical tasks, including the following: grading, collecting missing work, entering grades in the computer, keyboarding Monday letters and other documents, filing, taking attendance and lunch count, making copies, distributing classroom-related materials.
- Assists with keeping the classroom neat, clean, and organized, and with putting up bulletin boards.
- Coordinates with and assign duties to parent volunteers to assist the classroom teacher.
- Performs supervision duties, including watching children at all recesses (both indoors and out at various temperature levels and conditions; 20°F – 100 °F, windy, sunny, cloudy, snowing, raining), in the lunchroom, in the hallways, during restroom breaks, and in the classroom.
- Escorts students to Specials classes, lunch, recess, pick up areas, etc.
- Maintains order in the classroom, lunchroom, hallways, and on field trips.
- Informs the supervising and/or applicable teacher of any behavior problems and participates in problem solving.
- Escorts students over the bridge and assists in releasing children to parents/guardians.
- Sets up and takes down recess equipment and boundary markers.
- Assists in preparation of classroom materials for instruction.
- Operates all equipment/technology necessary for instruction in the classroom.
- Monitors student activities; circulates throughout the classroom during instruction.
- Helps children stay on task and/or checks progress.
- Is willing to work one-on-one with students or in groups.
- Is punctual, neat, appropriately, and modestly dressed.
- Respects and keeps confidential information.
- Works positively and supportively with others.
- Responds to requests by teachers and administration in a courteous, timely, and supportive manner.
