Job Summary
The After-School Mentor plays a key role in supporting students beyond the classroom by providing guidance, academic support, and personal development coaching in an engaging after-school environment. This position helps foster a safe and inclusive space where students can develop essential life skills, build confidence, and receive mentorship that encourages both academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Student Mentorship & Guidance
- Serve as a positive role model for students, encouraging growth, leadership, and self-discipline.
- Develop meaningful relationships with students to support their emotional and social well-being.
- Assist students in setting personal, academic, and extracurricular goals.
✅ Academic Support & Enrichment
- Provide homework assistance, tutoring, and skill-building activities in core subjects.
- Reinforce classroom learning through hands-on projects and creative problem-solving.
- Encourage critical thinking and a growth mindset in students.
✅ Behavioral & Emotional Support
- Promote a positive and inclusive environment where students feel safe and supported.
- Guide students in resolving conflicts, making responsible decisions, and developing healthy habits.
- Work closely with staff, families, and school personnel to address student needs.
✅ Program Engagement & Activities
- Plan and facilitate group activities, leadership workshops, and team-building exercises.
- Encourage participation in extracurricular programs and community initiatives.
- Lead recreational activities that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Prior experience working with youth in a mentoring, tutoring, coaching, or community outreach setting.
Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution abilities.
Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification preferred; ability to complete required program training.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
