Job Summary
The After-School Tutor provides academic support and enrichment to students in a structured after-school program. This role helps students strengthen their understanding of core subjects, build study skills, and develop confidence in their learning abilities. Tutors work closely with students, teachers, and program staff to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Academic Support & Tutoring
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in core subjects such as Math, Science, English, and Social Studies.
- Assist students with homework, projects, and study strategies.
- Adapt tutoring sessions to meet the individual learning needs of students.
✅ Student Engagement & Mentorship
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
- Support students in developing effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills.
- Serve as a mentor, promoting confidence and a growth mindset.
✅ Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate with teachers, program staff, and parents to align tutoring efforts with student goals.
- Provide feedback on student progress and areas for improvement.
- Assist in creating and implementing engaging educational activities.
✅ Program Support & Supervision
- Ensure students stay on task and make the most of their tutoring sessions.
- Supervise students in a safe and structured after-school setting.
- Assist with program activities, events, and workshops as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in tutoring, education, or mentoring preferred.
Skills: Strong communication, patience, adaptability, and ability to work with diverse learning styles.
Certifications: Background check and any necessary program-mandated training.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
