Job Summary
The Part-Time School-Based Mental Health Counselor provides essential mental health support to students, helping them navigate emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. This role involves direct counseling services, crisis intervention, and collaboration with school staff and families to foster student well-being and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Direct Counseling Services
- Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties.
- Develop and implement personalized intervention plans based on student needs.
- Utilize evidence-based practices to enhance students’ emotional and psychological well-being.
✅ Crisis Intervention & Behavioral Support
- Respond to mental health crises, offering immediate support and stabilization.
- Implement de-escalation techniques and coping strategies to assist students.
- Work with school personnel to promote positive behavioral support systems.
✅ Collaboration & Consultation
- Coordinate with teachers, counselors, and school staff to integrate mental health services within the school setting.
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, and community mental health resources.
- Participate in IEP and 504 plan meetings, offering mental health expertise.
✅ Education & Advocacy
- Provide mental health education to students, parents, and staff.
- Advocate for student mental health needs within the school system.
- Conduct workshops on emotional regulation, stress management, and social skills.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
Licensure: Licensed or license-eligible as an LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent (state-specific requirements apply).
Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in counseling, mental health therapy, or school-based interventions preferred.
Skills: Strong communication, crisis intervention, and problem-solving abilities.
Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification preferred; ability to complete required school district training.

Pay: $32.00 - $42.00 per hour
