What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sound Tech Lead (STL) position at Faith Lutheran Church?
Overview:
The part-time Sound Tech Lead will strive to effectively manage the audio of Faith’s worship services, so that all in-person and online worshipers can clearly hear the Word of God proclaimed to them. This individual will need to be present for the majority of worship services, train/schedule volunteers, keep inventory and records of equipment, and work collaboratively with worship staff.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Relationships:
· Oversee the audio mix of Faith's worship services, rehearsals and other special events at Faith (funerals, Holy Week services, Christmas Eve/Day, etc.)
· Streamline the current programming of the soundboard, work with Inspirmedia as necessary in the streamline process and keep the new programming going forward.
· Work with Faith's Music Directors with programming needs and functionality of the Midas M32 Mixer.
· Run software updates on the mixer as needed and be sure that core functionality remains in that process.
· Troubleshoot any issues that may arise with Faith's audio system.
· Maintain current and future audio equipment.
· Maintain inventory of equipment (microphones, cables, etc.)
· Work with worship staff to communicate any needs/plans for equipment upgrades/replacements.
· Manage scheduling, communications and training for current and future sound volunteers.
· Communicate sound booth needs and coordinate training with Faith's Director of Digital Arts(DDA)
· Attend team meetings as needed.
· The STL will work closely with Faith's Music Directors and will report to the Director of Digital Arts and is accountable to the Faith Leadership Board and congregation.
Key Competencies for Success:
· Experience running a sound and mixing a band at live events. Experience in a worship setting is preferred.
· In-depth knowledge of the Midas M32 Mixer, functionality and programing or equivalent digital soundboard or DAW.
· Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with worship staff, DDA and volunteers.
· Willingness to receive new training as necessary to stay current with best practices and to fill any knowledge gaps.
· Ability to streamline cable management.
· Ability to upkeep current documentation of equipment, connection mapping, configurations, etc.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
· Experience running a sound and mixing a band at live events.
· In-depth knowledge of the Midas M32 Mixer, functionality and programing or equivalent digital soundboard or DAW.
Compensation & Time Commitment:
· $100 per Sunday for 26 Sundays per year
· $50 per additional worship event per month
· $25 per hour for training and other non-worship tasks.
