Shift Details: 6 a.m. -730 p.m. Every third weekend. 2-4 days a week

Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of all kitchen workers in all aspects of preparing and cooking foods and services for hospital patients, staff, and visitors to assure that quality, nutritious meals are served. Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served.
- Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
- Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.
- Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.
- Provides necessary safety measures.
- Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.
2. Supervises Nutritional Services personnel when preparing patient trays.
3. Identifies prescribed diet and references for nutrition information.
4. Ensures food is prepared, cooked and portion size is per established policies and procedures.
5. Maintains quality control measures to ensure temperature, attractiveness and palatability of food.
6. Supervises and coordinates food distribution and food service to patients and cafeteria demonstrating sanitary food handling procedures.
7. Ensures food is dispensed in a uniform, timely manner using portion guidelines, unless otherwise noted.
8. Supervises dish room procedures ensuring that proper techniques are utilized and that established procedures and standards are maintained. Ensures cleaning and sanitation requirements are maintained.
9. Performs any or all the duties in the kitchen, tray line, cafeteria and dish room as required by staffing problems.
10. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
11. Performs in a supervisory role including:
- Implements conflict resolution skills and problem-solving skills.
- Supervises employee work performance and makes changes that are necessary to improve work quality.
- Assists with and provides input in hiring, training, employee evaluations and disciplinary procedures.
- Participates in the discipline of employees.
- Assist employees in resolving problems.
- Analyze and resolve work problems.
- Facilitates the implementation of change.
- Initiate plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
- Adequately staff department through scheduling and work assignment duties.
- Interprets and administers departmental and hospital policies.
- Provides input in hiring and employee evaluation process.
- Implements team building and team leading concepts.
- Demonstrates supervisor responsibilities related to discrimination.
Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

Job Requirements: The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION:
Required Preferred GED or High School Diploma preferred.
SKILLS:
Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
Previous experience in Administrative Assistant work preferred.
Dietary Supervisor experience in healthcare preferred.
Completion of food service supervisors’ course, including sanitation, hygiene, and food preparation preferred.
