Shift Details : M-F 7 : 30-16 : 00 No weekends / Holidays

Department : Imaging Administration | Reports To : Manager-Radiology

Summary :

Performs in a clerical role for the Radiology department. Will enter orders and check in patients scheduled for imaging exams and procedures. Performs a wide variety of clerical functions that require application of independent judgment. Maintains adequate unit supplies with attention to cost containment policies of the organization. Demonstrates a workable knowledge of medical terminology and computers during day-to-day activities. Reviews and completes CT / MRI history forms for scheduled outpatients. Penmanship and written communications will be concise, accurate and legible. Work will include the operation of standard office equipment, computers, and responsible contact with the public.

Responsibilities :

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Places orders and / or checks patients in for Radiology procedures ordered for Radiology outpatients.

2. Accurately maintains the records of all patients in a confidential manner.

3. Accurately mails documents and distributes mail daily.

4. Carries out duties and responsibilities of position without specific supervision. Ability to make decisions within limits.

5. Ensures positive relationships with physicians and their offices keeping a professional manner in all communications.

6. Keeps proper tracking of physician's orders.

7. Obtains signatures for patients for release or records / consent forms.

8. Demonstrates abilities to adapt to unexpected events

Identifies role in unexpected events (emergencies / unscheduled exams, cancellations / codes, etc.

  • Projects a positive, calm cooperative attitude when completing tasks for unexpected events.

9. Display accurate knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) order entry / RIS.

10. Requesting and returning outside imaging studies.

11. Serves as liaison between department and medical records, accounting and billing / coding issues.

12. Takes part in any in-service training. In turn shall be responsible for training new employees Radiology office duties.

13. Attends monthly department meetings.

14. Reviews and completes CT / MRI history forms for scheduled outpatients.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and / or ability required.

EDUCATION :

GED or High School Diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE :

Previous clinical experience preferred.

Previous healthcare experience preferred.

SKILLS :

Language Skills - Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.

KNOWLEDGE :

Medical Terminology preferred.
