Title: Assistant Preschool Teacher (Half Day)
Purpose: The Assistant Preschool Teacher shall be a committed Christian who helps Faith Church to connect, grow, serve and go by assisting the Lead Preschool Teacher to provide a safe, and loving educational environment for the preschool children and their families.
Qualifications: Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education preferred, but not required. Experience in working with children in a day care or preschool setting a plus. Must have either a degree in education or related field (counseling, social work, etc) OR minimum 2 years of experience working with preschool age children. Must be able to clear Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearance background checks.
Responsible To: Lead Preschool Teacher
Hours: School hours are 8:30-11:30, but teachers arrive by 8:00 and stay until children are dismissed, plus necessary planning and prep time, under the direction of the Lead Preschool Teacher. Assistant Teacher is also responsible to attend several evening events throughout the year, including Parent Meeting (Aug.), Open House (Nov.), Christmas Program (Dec.), Parent-Teacher Conferences (Mar. & for 4s teachers only),Public Open House (Mar.), Registration (Mar.), Annual Yard Sale (Mar/Apr.), Combo Day (May), Closing Programs (Two evenings in May)
Description of Duties:
Daily Responsibilities
- At the beginning of each session, take attendance, check bags for parent communication, and be present for circle time.
- Prepare a variety of crafts that reflect the weekly topics and skills of the preschool and preschool children, focusing on strengthening fine motor skills and personal organizational skills.
- At the end of each session, dismiss children for the day.
- Plan and execute gross motor activities.
Additional Responsibilities
- At beginning and end of year, assist Lead Preschool Teacher in setting up and tearing down for the year.
- Working with Lead Preschool Teacher to schedule field trips and send reminders to parents.
- Responsible for scheduling student snack days on a monthly basis, to be added to monthly calendar.
- Assist Lead Preschool Teacher with preparation for Parent Evening, and other special events.
- Conduct end of the year inventory for arts and crafts, including ordering supplies and cups and napkins for snacks.
- Coordinate classroom parties
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Lead Preschool Teacher.
