Compensation: $22.50/Hr.
Position Summary:
The Health Institute is seeking skilled skills instructors to provide direct instruction and skill demonstration to initial education EMT students. As an adjunct faculty, you will be responsible for providing EMT skill and equipment demonstrations, assisting students in EMT skill practice, tracking the student performance, inputting performance, providing coaching and constructive feedback to EMT students, and answering students’ questions about EMT course content. You will also teach the American Heart Association Basic Life Support and Heartsaver classes. Key responsibilities include creating an active learning environment, ensuring course requirements and objectives are met, monitoring written and skill testing, and testing students’ skills competency.
Job Duties:
- Conducting American Heart Association Basic Life Support and Heartsaver courses including delivering the course, inputting attendance, collecting and sorting paperwork, and completing course requirements to comply with the American Heart Association Training Center standards.
- Delivering EMT skill presentations and demonstrations following provided templates and videos.
- Monitoring and assisting EMT students’ skill practice, ensuring progress in acquiring skill knowledge.
- Tracking and imputing student performance into skills tracking software.
- Creating an active learning environment by providing students interactive, positive feedback aimed at building performance towards competency.
- Answer initial education student questions about skills, curriculum, and experiences as an EMT.
- Interact with students, customers, and the general public in a positive, respectful, responsible, and energetic manner.
- Conduct, monitor, and participate in the EMT student written and skill testing.
- Act as an advocate in the student learning process.
- Translate complex concepts into understandable parts.
Qualifications:

The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current certification as an EMT
- Minimum of six months’ work experience on an ambulance
- Current provider certification in BLS from the American Heart Association
- Current instructor certification in BLS from the American Heart Association (or the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
- Current Level 1 instructor certification from the National Association of EMS Educators
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, teams, managers, supervisors, and external customers.
- Computer competency, including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information when necessary.
- Ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Highly dependable and ability to meet internal deadlines consistently.
- Strong organization skills and attentiveness to detail.
