Basic Function : Responsible for creating revenues through direct sales efforts necessary to achieve or exceed budgeted expectations, via maintaining existing accounts, prospecting new accounts, and handling customer inquiries.
Essential Duties :
Maintains contact with all existing accounts in each market segment.
Continually qualifies and re-qualifies new and existing accounts.
Places follow-up phone calls on all leads within 24 hours.
Maintains a minimum of 50 sales calls per week including 25 personal calls, 5 property tours, and 20 telephone calls.
Maintains booking activity in accordance with established goals.
Completes Daily Call Report, Weekly Activity Report and Weekly Call Plan and submits them to the Director of Sales.
Documents all sales calls or client correspondence using correct forms.
Assists in developing the Quadrimester Sales Action Plan.
Participate in weekly Sales meeting on property.
Maintains Account file information and trace systems as assigned.
Schedules clients for on-site tours / visits.
Other Duties :
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements :
High School Diploma, Associate and or Bachelor degree.
Minimum of Three years of previous Sales experience (preferably hotel sales).
Successful record of outside sales solicitation and productivity.
Strong organizational skills to facilitate the coordination of all departments in fulfilling the clients’ requests. Must possess the ability to handle large amounts of paperwork, phone calls, outside sales calls and to set reasonable priorities.
Assertive, innovative personality with a high level of initiative to solicit new business and assure that the client’s needs can be met by the facility.
Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal enabling one to communicate with other hotel associates, guests, and business clients.
Requires sitting and typing regularly and mobility enabling one to personally visit existing or perspective clients frequently and to escort clients / guests to all parts of the hotel, as appropriate.
Valid driver’s license to facilitate personal visits to new or existing clients.
Must be able to work long hours and stay after a regular shift to network and entertain guests.
Other Requirements :
Associate or bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management is preferred but not required. Bilingual is preferred yet not required. Command of the English Language is a must.
Team orientation facilitating interaction with all departments ensuring the achievement of overall property and company goals as well as individual goals.
Must pass a background check.
Training Needs :
Professional sales training techniques.
Computer skills training.
In-depth training in the reservation system and the Sales and Marketing Manual.
Familiarity with Marriott / Sheraton Management properties, locations, facilities, etc.
Training in providing quality guest service.
Must complete all brand required training in the prescribed time frame.
