ABOUT THE POSITION
School District 49 is actively seeking a Special Education Para Educator - PEAK Programs at PEAK Education Center. Come join our fun, energetic, and dynamic team at PEAK! The Personal Excellence Academic Knowledge (PEAK) para educator will work in a strong and collaborative team environment in partnership with other PEAK para educators and special education teachers in a center-based environment. Students served through PEAK programming benefit from affective needs instruction, trauma responsive care, social communications activities, restorative practices, and behavioral dysregulation interventions. The PEAK para educator will support a range of social, emotional, and behavioral interventions and strategies designed to support students with serious emotional disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and/or low-cognition, but may present with other educational disability areas. The para educator will work with students with delays that are significantly affecting social, verbal, and/or non-verbal communication interactions, in combination with challenging behaviors. Rotation between the PEAK programs and grade levels is typical.
Calendar: Extended School Year - 180 days
Reports to: Dean of PEAK Programs
Hourly rate of pay: Starting pay is $21.74 per hour to $28.41 per hour depending upon previous relevant working experience. Actual starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience provided on the job application. This amount is based on the 2024/2025 pay schedule and is subject to change.
