As the Food Service Worker you will perform a wide variety of food service duties in order to prepare and serve School breakfast and lunch programs in an orderly and safe environment adhering to New York State Department of Health guidelines.
As the Food Service Worker, your day will include:
- Performs routine manual labor associated with food preparation and cleaning of cafeteria and kitchen
- Follows all operational and safety procedures provided
- Assist with daily cleaning duties in the cafeteria including cleaning equipment and work areas, mopping, operating dishwasher and/or scrubbing pots and pans, cleaning up at end of shift, and putting away/disposing of leftovers.
- Organize food service and dining areas
- Prepare a variety of foods according to food service manager’s instructions, following approved procedures
- Assist in maintaining order in the cafeteria as needed, report unusual problems to the food service manager
- Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers
- Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas
- Report unusual problems to the food service manager
- Accurately keep records of the quantities of food used, complete daily reports, forms, etc
- Make recommendations to the food service manager for improvements to the breakfast and lunch program
- Assume other duties as assigned by food service manager
- Meets accepted standards of professional behavior, including commitment to punctuality and attendance
- Adheres to no smoking and/or tobacco use policy in all School buildings, School grounds and in School vehicles
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications for the role:
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with fellow staff
- Skills and abilities normally associated with completion of high school or GED equivalency
- Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge of general food service methods and procedures
- Strong organization skills and close attention to detail
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Competitive Salary starting at $18.43 per hour
Shift: Monday through Friday 6:30 AM – 1:30 PM.
