What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker (40 hrs/wk. Year round) position at Fall Mountain School District?
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Minimum three years’ experience in maintenance and care of buildings
- General knowledge of building repair, carpentry and related equipment including basic plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning repair.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Must be able to furnish some of own tools to perform work
- Ability to work without close supervision both independently and in cooperation with other employees
- Ability to use online computer system and other related programs to access work orders, status of completion etc.
- Ability to drive and possession of a valid driver’s license and transportation
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
- Substitution of qualifications may be considered on a case basis by the Superintendent
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of areas and as assigned by the
- Perform all assigned maintenance projects within area of competence in an expeditious manner.
- Advise Facilities Manager of any maintenance problems or hazards encountered in the line of daily operations or during regular inspection of equipment or systems.
- Recommend repairs or procedures that are beyond the scope of responsibilities, skill, or experience, outlining the work needed and specifications required of an outside contractor or from another licensed member of the maintenance team.
- Remove snow and ice by shoveling, plowing, and/or sanding walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties and operate tools and equipment
- Maintain inventory of supplies and materials at an adequate level
- Maintain shop and district equipment assigned in a safe and orderly condition
- Keep accurate records of work accomplished, including time and materials consumed in the job and report to Facilities Manager
- Use online computer system and other related programs to receive work orders, update status of completion etc.
- Ensure that all applicable fire, safety, health, and environmental regulations and laws areobserved or exceeded.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed, during and after business hours and on weekends
- Work as a team member with the district maintenance staff and in cooperation with other school staff and administrators in the accomplishment of repairs and maintenance
- Strive constantly to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and employees
- Demonstrate positive work habits by showing initiative, cooperation, dependability, efficiency, and productivity
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Facilities Manager

Qualifications:
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Supervises: Part-time or temporary employees as may be assigned. Other supervision maybe required as determined and assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Regional Educational Support Personnel Association.
Job Goal: Maintains and repairs buildings, equipment and property to ensure that all students, staff, and the community are provided a safe, attractive and clean, and healthy environment for learning and work.
Performance Responsibilities:
Physical Requirements
The Maintenance worker position is physically demanding. The incumbent must spend up to 8 hours per shift standing, walking, climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects (50 pounds) etc. The ability to speak, see and hear is required. This position also requires the ability to stretch, bend and reach overhead throughout the shift. Manual dexterity is required to handle small objects, operate tools, computers, and/or controls. Must also be able to see to complete tasks. Ability to drive is required. This position functions in both an indoor and outdoor environment which may include exposure to a variety of weather conditions and or chemical substances used for cleaning, instruction or operation of equipment.
