Responsibilities:
• Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Count, package, and label medications for inspection by pharmacist.
• Assist with medication cart preparation, including filling, delivery, billing, and crediting of medications.
• Maintain drug inventory, procure medications via wholesaler, assist with medication recalls, and return outdated medications for credit as needed.
• Make routine deliveries to nursing stations and ancillary departments.
• Maintain competencies related to making IV admixtures under the supervision of the pharmacist.
• Prepack unit dose medications using the pre-packer.
• Answer phones.
• Perform inspection of medication areas, removing outdated or contaminated products, restocking supplies, and maintaining appropriate records.
• Maintain patient accounts as it relates to billing of medications in Epic and Speedscript.
• Basic knowledge of automated dispensing systems: fill, troubleshoot, load/unload, maintain database.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
• Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings as required.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Operate within established policies and procedures of the department.
• Frequent decisions regarding prioritizing or adjusting duties may need to be done independently.
Requirements:
• Must be enrolled in a Pharmacy Technician training program and register as a Pharmacy Technician-in-training with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy.
• Previous experience in a Pharmacy setting is beneficial.
• Must obtain CPhT within 2 years per State requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, command of English grammar, proficient computer skills.
• Must be able to work independently, prioritize, and maintain individual workload.
• Schedule: 32 hours a week, no evenings or weekends, rotation of holiday coverage.
• Average pay is $16.93 - $20.28/hour depending on experience.
