Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Fall River Health Service is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Pharmacy Supervisor/Staff Pharmacist, performing routine tasks such as filling orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals, and assisting with related duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Counts, packages, and labels medications for inspection by pharmacist.
- Assists with medication cart preparation, including filling, delivery, billing, and crediting of medications.
- Maintains drug inventory, procures medications via wholesaler, assists with medication recalls, and returns outdated medications for credit as needed.
- Makes routine deliveries to nursing stations and ancillary departments.
- Maintains competencies related to making IV admixtures under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Prepacks unit dose medications using the pre-packer.
- Answers phones.
- Performs inspections of medication areas, removing outdated or contaminated products, restocking supplies, and maintaining appropriate records.
- Maintains patient accounts related to billing of medications in Epic and Speedscript.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of automated dispensing systems, including fill, troubleshooting, loading/unloading, and maintaining database.
- Utilizes basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings as required.
- Lifts/carry up to 30 pounds.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Working Conditions:
Operates within established policies and procedures of the department.
Frequent decisions regarding prioritizing or adjusting duties may need to be done independently.
Schedule:
32 hours per week, no evenings or weekends.
Rotation of holiday coverage.
Compensation:
Average pay is $16.93-$20.28/hour, depending on experience.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Licensure:
- Enrolled in a Pharmacy Technician training program and registered as a Pharmacy Technician-in-training with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy.
- Previous experience in a Pharmacy setting is beneficial.
- Must obtain CPhT within 2 years, per State requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Command of English grammar.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Able to work independently, prioritize, and maintain individual workload.
