The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: Network Manager
Job Description: Develop, maintain, and improve the speed and reliability of Internet connectivity, the district WAN, and building-level LANs. Integrate security and accountability into every aspect of networking planning and operation. Support teaching and learning by adapting the network to meet the needs of emerging educational technologies.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Provide recommendations regarding suitability of new networking technologies and, if appropriate, suggest system migration plans.
2. Build and install Internet Operating System (I0S) software and supporting applications on local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) servers.
3. Enhance and upgrade the network with the latest software to improve performance and reliability for servers and the LAN/WAN.
4. Set up, configure, and manage servers and firewall(s).
5. Manage daily procedures for the FRPS local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) such as system backups, databases, and software applications.
6. Support school staff in the operation and configuration of instructional and administrative technology systems.
7. Coordinate with the Chief Information Officer to resolve LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, router and email-related problems.
8. Maintain schedules, problem status reports (including resolution logs) and inform the Chief Information Officer of any system wide problems
9. Inform Chief Information Officer of any issues related to current projects via written communication.
10. Assist with project planning, scheduling, and oversee technical implementation of projects.
11. Serve as technology liaison to FRPS/non-FRPS schools and organizations.
12. Provide users with technical support and staff training on an ongoing basis.
13. Participate in professional development activities.
14. Perform other related duties as requested by the Chief Information Officer.
Required Qualifications:
1. BA/BS, course work in Computer Science or related field
2. 4-5 Years, experience in providing technical support in a complex Information Technology (IT) setting similar to the FRPS IT environment
3. Knowledge of network administration on diverse operating system platforms including Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and email support
4. Ability to accept direction
5. Ability to manage and direct personnel to perform network service and maintenance tasks
6. Ability to manage workload and delegate tasks to be completed in a timely fashion
7. Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits to be negotiated. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established within an individual contract.
Salary: $60,000-$70,000
