The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: PASS Social Worker / Administrator
Position Summary: The PASS Social Worker/ Administrator through strong relationship building and positive interactions with the young adults in the program, the Social Worker directs all aspects of the program, which provides an alternative to suspension for high school students with substance use and vaping infractions. The Social Worker will ensure the delivery of evidence-based interventions, including individual counseling, group psychoeducation, and referrals to community-based organizations.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
- Licensed as a LCSW, LICSW or LMHC in the state of Massachusetts
- Licensed as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor (Levels: All) by DESE
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with adolescents in a school or community-based setting preferably in a leadership capacity
- Experience in running theraptutic groups
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in substance use prevention, intervention, and recovery services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Proficient in data analysis and program evaluation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
- Second Language skills preferred
- Must have experience in working with a variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with sending schools to support a seamless referral and communication process for suspended students.
- Manage the intake process, be the primary contact for administrators and parents.
- Plan and run regular meetings with the team at PASS.
- Partner with PASS staff to ensure a full day of programming and services aligned with individual student needs.
- Through direct service and strong leadership, build and maintain strong relationships with students in the program to elicit trust and support positive outcomes.
- Support the development of re-entry plans and assist in the transition back to school to include transition meetings, ensuring that each student goes back to their school with a behavior support plan.
- Develop and implement the PASS program curriculum and daily schedule.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support students at PASS. Collaborate with the community agencies (i.e. SSTAR clinician and Family Resource Center) to coordinate comprehensive, wrap-around services for students to ensure that the appropriate group topics are being offered.
- Maintain detailed records and data tracking to monitor program outcomes and progress
- Participate in professional development and training to stay up-to-date on best practices in substance use prevention and recovery
- Assist with the supervision and training of other PASS program staff, as needed.
- All other duties as directed or required for the overall success of the program
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services & Strategic Integration or Designee
Salary and Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits according to the FRAA bargaining unit contract.
Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and grant funding.
Salary Range: $67,470 - $103,826
