FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT I
Position Description BASIC FUNCTION: Entry-level position; Under immediate supervision, assists in the preparation and/or serving of food in a cafeteria, maintains food service areas, facilities and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition and performs related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Positions in this class may be assigned to a food preparation kitchen, snack bar or faculty dining area where they have the responsibility to assist in food preparation, serve food and clean kitchen and serving areas. The duties listed below are typical for positions in the class collectively, but no one position will necessarily include all these duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:- Assists in the preparation, packaging and serving of food.
- Washes dishes and kitchen equipment.
- Assists in requisitioning, receiving and storage of foods and supplies.
- Assists in maintaining proper care of equipment and sanitation of the kitchen.
- May act as cashier, collecting money, making change and counting totals.
- Participates in District in-service programs.
