JOB GOALS: As a teacher leader in the classroom you will plan and teach highly effective lessons, work as part of a grade level and curricular team and develop high leverage relationships with students and families. Implement strategies to support all learners by having a deep understanding of principles and concepts important for teaching elementary school mathematics; life sciences, theories of cognitive, social, emotional, and language development from childhood through adolescence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- REQUIRED Massachusetts licensure: Elementary 1-6.
- SEI endorsement, preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
- Experience teaching math and science at appropriate level preferred.
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools/Director of Student Services may deem acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop daily and long-range plans for each course taught relating them to the needs of the children.
- Implement a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student achievement and engagement.
- Offer learning activities that take into consideration the individual differences in children (implement strategies for Special Needs and English Language Learners).
- Exercise appropriate classroom control that helps children grow in their ability to become self-disciplined and able to accept reasonable external control.
- Manage effectively the routines of classroom operations and maintain, with student help, an attractive and healthful classroom.
- Develop and implement curriculum objectives based on the learning standards of the curriculum frameworks.
- Evaluate classroom activities on a daily and long-range basis in respect to educational goals.
- Foster warm, close, yet productive relationships with students and pleasant, cooperative relationships with staff members and parents.
- Utilize knowledge of the significant theories, practices, and programs for developing reading skills and reading comprehension.
- Development of a listening, speaking, and reading vocabulary among students
- Implement theories on the relationships between beginning writing and reading
- Implement theories of first and second language acquisition and development
- Develop lessons and implement them to support the writing process and formal elements of writing and composition
- Assume necessary supervisory responsibilities when required.
- Cooperate with principal and/or staff in extra-curricular activities.
- Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal.
