Summary of Position Assist Vice President - Actuarial in providing Actuarial Support for Falvey Insurance Group. This includes, but is not limited to : Ratemaking, Reserving, Analytics, Modeling, CAT Management, Reinsurance, and Special Request & Projects. Position Functions Create Actuarial Reports to support Capacity Partnerships and internal Underwriting Strategy. These include Ratemaking, Reserving, Risk Aggregation, and Claim Trends Construct and validate Actuarial Models in excel and business intelligence software / systems Interpret trends and explain data insights to leadership and underwriting Validates data quality and performs reconciliations between various systems and reports Assists in rate filing preparation by gathering data, running analyses, and documenting methodologies Documents technical procedures and maintains actuarial assumption libraries Collaborate on written reports to Capacity Partnerships explaining portfolio trends Working with actuarial and data counterparts at Partnering Insurance companies to resolve questions and facilitate analyses Collaborate with the Business Intelligence and Innovation team on ad hoc projects as needed Knowledge and Skill Requirements Quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Proficient in Excel, with a working knowledge of Microsoft office A working understanding of data and databases (Experience with Business Intelligence software a plus) One or more programming languages (Python, R, SQL, or Others) a plus Bachelor’s degree in analytical field : actuarial science (preferred), math, statistics, or economics. Experience in an actuarial or a statistical role in a property and casualty insurance company a plus (Prior Ocean Marine Experience with US Marine, Inland Marine, Property and Specialty classes a bigger plus) 1 or more actuarial exams a plus; pursuit of a property and casualty actuarial designation (ACAS or FCAS) a bigger plus. Position includes support for the pursuit of a property and casualty actuarial designation, via the exam process as outlined by the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). Support includes study hours, reimbursement for exam fees & study materials, and compensation adjustments. Physical Requirements Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, possess strong written communication skills and answer and communicate on a telephone. Supervisory Responsibilities None Working Conditions Business-casual, fast-paced office environment Hours of Operation : This position supports our marketing efforts internationally. This position's work hours are Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm, in a hybrid work environment. Our hybrid environment is 3 days within our business-casual office environment. Of these 3 days in the office, Wednesday and Thursday are required, and employees may work from home the other 2 days.
